As Fall 2017 Bridal Fashion Week wraps up, we're turning our attention to the trends that, well, caught our attention. of all the gorgeous wedding dresses that designers sent down the runways, 10 concepts stood out. Surprising new "bridal" colors and details left us seriously inspired, and inventive takes on classic silhouettes elevated the traditional wedding dress into the unexpected. Feminine, flowing flounces of fabric maximized movement on the runway, while asymmetrical cuts and graphic motifs like bows added an avant-garde appeal to otherwise minimalist moments (we're looking at you, oscar de la Renta and Viktor&Rolf ).
From iconic fashion houses including Marchesa , Monique Lhuillier , and naeem Khan , to newer names like Kaviar Gauche and odylyne the Ceremony , designers were especially innovative this seasonjchallenging the very idea of what it means to be "bridal". Sleeves saw a major comeback this season (hi, Vera Wang and Alon LivnA ), with bell and bishop shapes (or as Hayley paige renamed them, "dreamcatcher sleeves") making a big statement. Metallic shades and capes, such as those in Inbal Dror 's and YolanCris 's collections, continue to carry bridal into the regal realm, and the "naked" wedding dress trend took new form in peek-a-boo panels and cutouts. off-the-shoulder necklines turned heads, as did one-of-a-kind open backs fit for a grand getaway.
Uniformity will always be "in" in bridal, but offbeat brides might meet their match in these atypical, asymmetrical wedding dresses. From one-shoulder necklines to uneven skirt details, the runways were filled with one-of-a-kind designs fit for free-spirited brides who don't adhere to an equation when it comes to their style. Because the only thing that needs to be centered on your wedding day is you.
